Machinist Lead

Role Synopsis

Set up, run, edit, and program manual and CNC equipment as assigned. Provide leadership and training to other machinists.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to the following)

  • Individuals must be able to perform the duties of Machinist level I II and III
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, etc.
  • Able to use and read general QC equipment, including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of GD&T.
  • Ability to edit and program using G codes, offsetting, teaching tools, and loading programs, etc.
  • Ability to perform set-ups on CNC machines, lath and/or mills, including selection of tooling and fixtures as needed.
  • Knowledge of optimal tooling selection, feed and speed calculation, materials, and overall process improvement.
  • Promotes the company initiative of Lean Manufacturing/ Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Ability to work with little to no supervision.
  • Able to train, guide and assist other machinists as needed.
  • Perform other work-related tasks, as assigned.

Qualifications/Work Experience

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

Experience

  • 10+ years as a machinist with experience with CNC and manual machining
  • Knowledge of G & M codes, editing the programming.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Strong math and communication skills.
  • Ability to perform own set-ups.
  • Basic computer skills.

  • Physical ability to stand, bend, sit, and lift 40 pounds for 8 to 12 hours per day.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, wear Personal Protective Safety Equipment, and work nights, weekends, and/or overtime if required.
