Buyer/Planner

Position Title: Buyer/Planner

Department: Supply Chain

Location: Fenton, MO

Reports To: Purchasing Manager

Classification: Salary - Exempt

Position Summary:

The Buyer/Planner will be responsible in keeping component inventory levels to sustain a 98% Customer OTD with outside operation & PO scheduling using MRP and Vendor Managed Inventory.

Essential Job Duties:

• Analyze available data from demand planning, inventory reports and Microsoft excel files.
• Issue work orders and/or Purchase orders with outside suppliers.
• Collaborating with operations, production, and other team members on movement of inventory
• Supplier On Time Delivery to meet customer demand.
• Negotiation with suppliers.
• Maintaining MRP Planning Parameters.
• Cost reduction activities.

Required Education:

• Bachelor's Degree, in a business-related area

Required Experience/Skills:

• 3 to 5 years of purchasing and/or planning experience in a manufacturing environment
• Material Requirement Planning
• Manufacturing Purchasing Experience
• Strong organizational skills
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Ability to read blue prints
• Attention to detail and ability to focus on numbers for long periods
• Ability to prioritize daily issues
• Intermediate level use of Microsoft Excel

Desired Experience/Skills:

• Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume environment
• Experience using Macola MRP
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with people at all levels within the organization and with external suppliers
• Skilled at building external and internal relationships
• Understanding of manufacture flow in a discrete production environment
• Understanding Bills of Materials
• CPM, CPSM, CPIM a plus
