POSITION SUMMARY:

This Accounting Specialist position is responsible for recording customer payments in a timely and accurate manner and helping to resolve customer deductions and short payments.  Duties also include remote deposit captures, completion of trade reference requests, and other special projects as requested.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Cash Application

         Maintain controls on overall cash application by monitoring and posting cash receipts from the Company's lockbox and bank account, and by receiving, depositing and posting physical checks.

         Identify customer deductions and short payments at the time of cash posting and work with customers and internal resources to resolve issues in a timely manner.

Other

         Assist in the completion of trade reference requests from new credit applications. 

         Other accounting projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIREMENTS:

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

         A high school diploma or a certificate from a technical school.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

2-3 years of experience in accounting or accounts receivable position.

         Knowledge of accounting rules, regulations, policies and procedures that is reflective of the financial services industry.

         Proven, solid Excel skills and exposure to automated accounting systems

REQUIRED SKILLS:

         Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

         Must be a team player who can effectively communicate with both internal and external customers.

         Must be able to work independently in a fast paced, changing environment and handle multiple work assignments simultaneously.

         Experience and literacy with ERP and integrated business systems.

DESIRED SKILLS:

         Experience in accounting, specifically customer cash application, is preferred
