The primary function of the CNC Machinist position is to set up and operate machines or other CNC equipment for a wide range of unique jobs. Proper techniques such as tool selection, speeds and feeds to efficiently operate the machine to specifications. Additional responsibilities include reading blueprints and using precision measuring devices to produce parts to required tolerances, plan sequence of operations, offsets, diagnose, troubleshoot and make adjustments. Assist in the instruction of Set-up Trainees, Operators, Operator Trainees and other various duties as assigned by the supervisor.


  • Set-up, operate, and control process on all products produced on CNC Mills and Lathes
  • Ability to make offsets, change and reset tools
  • Responsible for executing production plan according to manufacturing schedule and work instructions
  • Responsible for controlling quality of product according to Inspection Plan and maintaining quality records
  • Maintains and performs daily preventative machine maintenance and supplies all machine related needs
  • Troubleshoot and solve minor to semi-complex problems and issues
  • Conduct minor root cause analysis
  • May be assigned to remove and/or replace worn or defective parts
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times
  • Must have the fundamental tools to safely and effectively perform the job
  • Other duties as assigned



  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Formal CNC training with certificate and/or previous experience


  • 3-5 years previous experience with CNC lathes and vertical mills


  • Excellent blue print reading skills
  • Understanding of cutting tools, speeds and feeds, and machining techniques
  • Ability to use precision measuring devices
  • Understanding of G and M code
  • Aptitude to learn pertinent software
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Ability to work in an oily and noisy environment
  • Ability to sit, stand, reach, pull, bend, and lift throughout the entire shift
  • Ability to perform physical labor
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Ability to be certified on a forklift, overhead crane, and Lock Out Tag Out


Work is performed in a plant environment with a significant amount of walking on oily concrete surfaces. Work conditions can be warm during the summer months. Workspaces can be dusty, oily, and noisy due to operating machines and traffic of motorized vehicles in the facility. Employees are required to wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (earplugs, safety glasses, and steel-toed shoes) at all times. Employees may be exposed to sharp objects.
