This position provides mechanical engineering design leadership for new product development and technical support for current products.  This is a senior position that works closely with sales and customers in the design, engineering and commercialization of new products. In addition, this role leads initiatives for improved quality and cost saving for existing products.  This role offers the opportunity to work with customers, sales, manufacturing, purchasing and quality departments.   The position may also require the supervision of product engineers or technical employees.



Control Devices, LLC ("Control Devices" or "CD") is a leading designer and manufacturer of high quality flow control valves, condensate removal traps, related components and accessories serving the compressed air, pressure washer, vehicle systems, fire protection, specialty gas, and the industrial, agricultural and food service float valve markets.  CD prides itself in the ability to design, innovate and manufacture flow control valves for custom applications and offers a line of standard products that has grown over the years.  CD is based in Saint Louis, MO and its products are sold on a global basis to O.E.M's, Distributors and End Users.  


Control Devices is a privately owned company with a very seasoned management team focused on organic sales growth with existing products and new revenue growth through acquisitions.






  • Support the product development process from concept development through product commercialization. Meet defined product performance and cost targets while demonstrating superior reliability and manufacturability.
  • Conceive ideas and plans of action to solve problems that arise during new product development and production startup.
  • Present ideas through design reviews and drawing sign-offs.
  • Validate designs through lab testing and end use review.
  • Interface with Sales, Manufacturing, Quality and Purchasing to provide strategic direction to grow, develop and improve our products and customer base.
  • Management/Supervision of technical personnel.







  • BS in Mechanical Engineering.
  • High School Diploma/GED



  • Minimum of 6 years' experience in leading mechanical engineering projects that includes defining requirements, developing concepts and detailed designs, qualify the product through analysis and test, and support the design transfer to manufacturing.
  • Experience in high pressure flow control valves a strong plus.  Product categories including Fire Protection, High Pressure Gas, Refrigeration and Hydraulics would be of special interest.
  • Experience with design software including but not limited to; SolidWorks and LabVIEW.
  • Experience in machining, injection molding and flow control product design and manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of APQP, Lean Manufacturing, Design for Manufacturing, ISO Quality Systems and 8D Corrective Actions.
